A series of workshops focusing on the project to develop building and operating standards for supplies sector and supermarkets is being in Riyadh

The Federation of Saudi Chambers convened the first of several workshops on Sunday, to create construction and operational guidelines for supermarkets and the supply industry in Riyadh. The criteria provide a way to measure and assess the degree of commitment and compliance by the businesses using a star system, to empower private sector establishments to create policies that align with the goals and requirements of investors.

In its role as the private sector's legal representative, the federation arranged the workshop. Several companies' representatives took part in the workshop that was arranged in association with the Ministry of Housing and Municipal and Rural Affairs.

The criteria about the construction and management of supply shops and central markets were examined throughout the session. Positive comprehension and adaptability on the part of the ministry in taking the remarks into account were also observed.

Six fundamental axes comprised the relevant controls and standards: product controls, supervisory controls over operations, food safety management system and control measures, food safety plan, legal registration of retail food establishments, and hygiene requirements in retail establishments.
