Riyadh Metro named among world's top four transport projects at 2026 Smart City Expo

Riyadh Metro has been named one of the world's top four transport projects at the Smart City Expo World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, competing against 533 entries from 68 countries. The recognition highlights its advanced technology, large scale and role in promoting sustainable mobility, reducing carbon emissions, easing traffic congestion and supporting Riyadh's urban growth.

The commission is showcasing Riyadh's use of data, AI and digital technologies in urban planning, alongside its public transport, traffic management, Green Riyadh programme and major development projects.

Held under the theme "Urban Solutions, Real Impact," the congress brings together over 600 international speakers to explore sustainable urban development, mobility, energy, housing and infrastructure.
