ICRT Responsible Tourism Awards: AlUla wins gold for nature-positive responsible tourism

AlUla has won Gold in the Nature Positive Responsible Tourism category at the 2026 ICRT Responsible Tourism Awards, recognizing its efforts to protect and restore natural ecosystems.

More than half of AlUla’s 22,561 sq km area is protected, with over 500,000 native trees planted and 1,500 animals released as part of conservation efforts. Restoration work in Sharaan National Park covers 74,000 hectares.

The award also recognizes AlUla’s collaboration with scientists and conservation groups and its approach to balancing tourism development with environmental protection and cultural heritage preservation, including Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site.
