Foundation stone laid for SDAIA’s Hexagon Data Center - world’s largest government facility

The foundation stone for the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority’s (SDAIA) “Hexagon” Data Center—the world’s largest government data center by megawatt capacity—was laid in Riyadh on Thursday.

Attended by SDAIA President Dr. Abdullah Alghamdi and senior officials, the ceremony highlighted the Tier IV–rated facility, which will have a capacity of 480 megawatts and cover more than 30 million square feet. Designed to the highest international standards, the center will ensure secure, highly available government data services and support the Kingdom’s growing digital needs.

Dr. Alghamdi said the project will reduce carbon emissions by about 30,000 tonnes annually and generate an estimated SR10.8 billion impact on GDP, strengthening Saudi Arabia’s position in the global data and artificial intelligence economy.
