A red alert has been issued for Asir Province by the National Center for Meteorology (NCM), indicating that by the end of this week, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is predicted to intensify over the southern highlands.
With a warning of possible flash floods, hailstorms, and powerful downdrafts from thunderclouds, NCM spokesman Hussein Al-Qahtani asked the people to pay attention to meteorological updates and heed the advice of the appropriate authorities.
Over parts of the Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions, the NCM predicted moderate to heavy thunderstorms on Friday that might result in floods, along with hail and strong gusts.
Along with the risk of thunderstorms and strong winds in certain regions, the center also reported hot to extremely hot weather in sections of Madinah and the Eastern Province, as well as in portions of Riyadh and Najran.
