Saudi Arabian authorities have made it possible for foreign pilgrims to activate eSIM cards straight through service provider applications, providing them with seamless digital access as soon as they arrive in the Kingdom.
The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) is spearheading the collaborative effort alongside the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and authorized telecommunications companies.
The "Absher" portal enables pilgrims to request eSIM cards from local suppliers, which are subsequently digitally activated and validated through biometric verification. By using this method, pilgrims can be connected as soon as they get there, avoiding the need to wait till they get to their lodging or visit service branches.
