Riyadh–Jeddah Railway to be completed in phases by 2034

Saudi Railway Co. CEO Bashar Al-Malik announced plans for a new railway linking Riyadh and Jeddah, to be built in phases and completed by 2034. The line is part of the Saudi Landbridge project, which also includes upgrading the Riyadh–Eastern Province railway. The project could cost up to SR100 billion ($26.67 billion) and is expected to significantly boost the Kingdom’s logistics sector. Contracts have not yet been signed, and a ministerial committee is overseeing the project.

Al-Malik also highlighted the proposed Riyadh–Doha high-speed railway, a 785-kilometer link connecting Riyadh, Hofuf, Dammam, and Doha. Trains on the route are expected to operate at speeds of at least 300 kph, making it the first high-speed rail connection between two neighboring countries in the region.
