The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has awarded a contract to extend the Riyadh Metro’s Red Line by 8.4 km, linking King Saud University to the Diriyah Gate Development with five new stations.
Eng. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, RCRC CEO, said the project will boost connectivity between key neighborhoods, cultural and educational hubs, and healthcare centers, addressing rising demand as the metro has carried over 173 million passengers since late 2024.
The extension features 7.1 km of underground tunnels, 1.3 km of elevated tracks, and stations at King Saud University and Diriyah, including a future interchange with Line 7, with completion expected in six years.
