Royal Commission for Riyadh City has launched full operations at the Western Station of the Riyadh Metro, completing the network’s four main stations and adding a major new transport hub to the capital.
Opening on Friday, the 112,000-square-metre station is the largest in the metro system and has earned LEED Gold certification for sustainable design. The facility includes commercial spaces, a mosque for 550 worshippers, public amenities, and parking for more than 600 vehicles.
Located in the Dhahrat Al Badiah district on the Orange Line, the station is designed to handle over 60,000 train passengers and 1,300 bus passengers per hour.
