The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has approved the use of the “Visitor ID” for opening bank accounts at banks across the Kingdom, in accordance with account opening regulations. Issued by the Ministry of Interior, the Visitor ID acts as an official identification for visitors and can be verified through authorized digital platforms.
SAMA stated that this move will enable banks to serve new customer segments and improve the banking experience for visitors during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
The central bank noted that the update is part of a routine review of account regulations to align with evolving regulatory standards, simplify banking procedures, promote financial inclusion, and support the digital transformation of financial services.
