The Saudi Passport (Jawasat) Directorate has announced that digital IDs can now be used as official identification for visitors arriving in Saudi Arabia on a visit visa. Accessible through the Ministry of Interior’s ‘Absher’ digital platform, this ID is recognised as the country’s authentic and reliable identification document. When requested by government offices or officials, visitors can simply open Absher and present their digital ID.
The digital ID streamlines procedures, reduces paper usage, and allows for faster verification for government services and travel within Saudi Arabia. This initiative is part of the country’s broader digital transformation efforts, modernising national systems and services.
