Saudi Arabia allows foreigners to own property with digital ID

The use of a digital ID to allow non-Saudi, non-resident foreigners to own property in the Kingdom has been approved by the Saudi Cabinet.

To create procedures for activating the digital ID, the General Real Estate Authority will collaborate with the National Information Center, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the Ministry of Interior, and other pertinent organizations.

The goal of the action is to permit its use prior to the Non-Saudi Real Estate Ownership Law's implementation.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved a resolution made by the Council of Economic and Development Affairs' Strategic Committee on Governance for Non-Saudi Property Ownership and Usufruct Rights, which included creating a committee inside the authority's board to supervise these issues.

Under the CEO's presidency, the General Real Estate Authority's board has been reorganized to include representatives from three private sectors, as well as members from several ministries and government agencies.
