A major milestone and first-of-its-kind project, Saudi Arabia announced Saturday the successful pilot launch of drone-based pharmaceutical delivery between primary healthcare centers and hospitals in the holy sites. This information was provided by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Enhancing the effectiveness of medical treatment given to pilgrims during the 1446 Hajj season is the project's main goal.
By actively working together, the Makkah Health Cluster and the National Unified Procurement Company (NUPCO) were able to guarantee the delivery of medications and medical supplies to the sacred locations using drones.
By providing medications and medical supplies during the Hajj, the program aims to boost healthcare operations and speed up response times. In one significant case, as part of heightened preparations that coincided with the commencement of the stoning ceremony on the first day of Eid Al-Adha, Mina Emergency Hospital got a drone delivery of ice packs intended to treat sunstroke and heat exhaustion.
