Saudi Arabia bans food trucks from operating in residential neighborhoods

In an effort to improve public safety and lessen traffic jams around the country, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in Saudi Arabia has released new rules that forbid food trucks from operating inside residential neighborhoods.

Mobile food vendors are not allowed to park close to crossroads, traffic signals, or the entrances and exits of major and secondary highways, according to the standards. Additionally, trucks are not allowed to drive in busy locations or within ten meters of gas stations.

In order to maintain public order, the ministry has prohibited smoking and loudspeaker use within food trucks.

The rules are intended to better organize the expanding mobile food industry while protecting residents, drivers, and pedestrians, according to authorities. Operators of food trucks must now adhere to specified operation zones and secure authorized permits.

The ministry emphasized that enforcement will be conducted in collaboration with local governments and urged companies to adjust to the new regulations.
