Saudi Arabia has introduced its first autonomous food delivery service in the ROSHN Front Business Area in Riyadh. This initiative is a collaboration between the housing developer ROSHN Group and the delivery app Jahez. The service is designed to shorten delivery times and lower carbon emissions and is officially licensed by the Kingdom’s Transport General Authority.
During the initial phase, five autonomous robots will operate within ROSHN Front’s Business Area during business hours as part of a broader pilot program to explore autonomous delivery solutions. This week, the five autonomous robots will start delivering meal orders from local eateries between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
For safe and accurate navigation, each robot has six cameras and over 20 sensors. With special cooling systems designed for the Kingdom's climate, they run on GPS. Most activities can be completed by robots without human assistance, and they have suspension to help them go over uneven terrain.
