Saudia, Saudi Arabia's national flag carrier, has announced that it will use Apple's Share Item Location tool to safely and discreetly find lost or delayed baggage that have an AirTag or Find My network accessory and reunite them with airline passengers. Guests can use the Find My app on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac to create a secure Share Item Location link as part of this effort.
This link can then be submitted through Saudia's specific digital site.
Location sharing expires after seven days, can be manually stopped at any time, and terminates automatically if the luggage is recovered.
Based on the Apple Find My network, which is a crowdsourced network of more than one billion Apple devices, Share Item Location can identify lost gadgets or nearby items using Bluetooth wireless technology and notify the owner of their approximate location.
No one else can see the location or details of an item, not even Apple or the makers of Find My network accessories, because the entire procedure is anonymous and end-to-end encrypted.
