The Holy Qur’an Museum at the Hira Cultural District in Makkah is showcasing the world’s largest handwritten copy of the Holy Qur’an, as recognized by Guinness World Records.
Measuring 312cm by 220cm and spanning 700 pages, the manuscript is an enlarged replica of a 16th-century Qur’an. The original features Thuluth script throughout, with Surah Al-Fatiha written in Naskh.
The Qur’an is noted for its exquisite calligraphy, gilding, and bookbinding, with intricate decorative elements reflecting the artistic mastery of the era. The original manuscript, endowed as a waqf in 1883, is preserved at the King Abdulaziz Complex for Endowment Libraries.
