Humain Chat, an AI software in Arabic, was made available to users in the Kingdom on Tuesday. Built in Saudi Arabia by Saudis, the chat is the first application in Humain's AI suite and is powered by an Arabic model named ALLAM 34B.
Launched in May by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Humain is an artificial intelligence firm owned entirely by the Public Investment Fund. Its goal is to create Arabic large language models and establish the Kingdom as a global center for AI innovation.
In addition to being accessible via a web browser and iOS and Android devices, the program is anticipated to soon expand to other Arabic-speaking nations.
A team of more than 120 AI experts, including 35 Ph.D.-level researchers in the Kingdom, created ALLAM from the bottom up with the goal of catering to the 350 million Arabic speakers worldwide.
The model is sensitive to cultural differences, able to recognize dialects, and able to distinguish between the classical and more regionally distinct varieties of Arabic spoken throughout the region.
One of the largest Arabic datasets ever gathered is used to train the model, which is also available in English. It is then improved with feedback from more than 600 domain experts and 250 evaluators. The outcome is unparalleled Arabic proficiency and profound adherence to Islamic, Middle Eastern, and cultural nuances.
Humain Chat is available at https://chat.humain.ai/ if you're in Saudi Arabia.
