Saudi Arabia warns of jail, deportation for Umrah visa violations after April 29

Saudi Arabia has warned that Umrah pilgrims who violate visa rules and fail to leave the country by April 29 could face deportation or imprisonment.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed that April 29 is the final departure date for all Umrah pilgrims currently in the Kingdom. Remaining in the country beyond this deadline will be considered a legal violation and may result in heavy fines, jail time, and deportation.

The measure comes as part of preparations for the upcoming Hajj season and follows concerns about some visitors attempting to overstay their pilgrimage visas. Saudi authorities have stressed that complying with visa regulations is essential to ensure the smooth management of millions of pilgrims. They noted that overstaying places additional pressure on logistical and security operations and affects the advanced systems, including artificial intelligence, used to regulate the movement of pilgrims across the holy sites.
