NewsThe Ministry of Interior and Murabba stations on the Blue Line of the Riyadh Metro project opened Monday, according to a statement released by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). On December 1, the Blue Line, which runs from Olaya Street to Batha, began service.
Visitors to Riyadh as well as Saudi nationals and expatriates have responded overwhelmingly to the metro service, which has helped to reduce traffic in the city. The metro is largely hailed as a significant advancement in Riyadh's transportation infrastructure.
The first line (blue line), the fourth line (yellow line), and the sixth line (purple line) are the three lines that have begun operations in the first phase.
While the Purple Line links Abdul Rahman bin Awf Road and Al-Shaikh Hassan bin Hussain Road, the Yellow Line follows the King Khalid International Airport Road.
Line 5 (Green Line), which covers King Abdulaziz Road, and Line 2 (Red Line), which covers King Abdullah Road, will start operating on December 15 as part of the second phase. On January 5, 2025, Line 3 (Orange Line) will cover Madinah Road, signaling the complete activation of all six lines and the culmination of this phased development.
