AlUla is gaining global attention during International Dark Sky Week (April 13–20) as a leading astrotourism destination with some of the world’s clearest night skies.
The Royal Commission for AlUla continues to reduce light pollution and promote astronomical tourism in line with DarkSky International’s mission. Sharaan and Wadi Nakhlah nature reserves were recently designated, adding to the 2024 recognition of AlUla Manara and AlGharameel — the first such sites in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.
Together, they join a global network of more than 250 protected Dark Sky locations.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and night-sky preservation, further positioning AlUla as a global hub for astronomy tourism under Saudi Vision 2030.
