As of July 2025, Saudi Arabian hotels must post information on calories and caffeine on their menus and boards. This program requires that the calorie and caffeine content of all food and beverage products be clearly and conspicuously labeled as part of a larger effort to address non-communicable diseases.
Every hotel is required to post information on calories and caffeine on its menus, menu boards, and possibly other online and mobile platforms. The main objective is to encourage better eating practices and knowledgeable customer choices by being transparent about the nutritional value of foods and beverages. These rules, which are a part of the nation's Vision 2030 project, are enforced by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).
In order to guarantee uniform information across different food and beverage venues, this need goes beyond simply cafes and restaurants to include hotels. Guidelines for information presentation, such as font size, format (e.g., "XXX Cal" or "XXX Calories"), and menu placement have been established by the SFDA. The program seeks to alleviate Saudi Arabia's high rate of obesity and associated health problems by enabling consumers to choose healthier foods.
