The Lyrid meteor shower is set to peak overnight between Wednesday and Thursday across Saudi Arabia and the wider Arab world, according to the Noor Astronomical Society.
One of the oldest recorded meteor showers, dating back over 2,700 years, the Lyrids originate from debris left by Comet Thatcher. At peak, they typically produce 15–20 meteors per hour, with higher rates possible during rare outbursts.
The best viewing time is in the pre-dawn hours, when visibility is highest before sunrise.
