New Hajj entry rules for residents traveling to Makkah came into effect Monday, requiring permits for those without a Hajj visa, Makkah-issued ID, or work authorization in the holy sites.
Authorities have introduced an online permit system via Absher and Muqeem, removing the need to visit passport offices. Different categories of residents and workers can apply through the respective platforms.
Officials also announced that Umrah visa holders must leave by April 18, with Umrah permits suspended until May 31. Entry into Makkah will be restricted to Hajj visa holders only, with penalties for violations.
Meanwhile, authorities conducted a large-scale transport simulation involving over 1.2 million virtual pilgrims, testing mobility across key holy sites to ensure efficient crowd and traffic management ahead of Hajj.
