While much of Saudi Arabia, including the Eastern Province and Riyadh, faces extreme summer heat, four regions—Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, and parts of Makkah—are experiencing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
The National Meteorological Center forecasts continued heat in the Eastern Province and Riyadh, with dust storms expected in Najran, Makkah, and along the coastal road to Jazan. Temperatures are expected to rise further in August.
Spokesman Hussein Al-Qahtani said temperatures will be about 1.2°C above normal in regions like Al-Jouf, Hail, Qassim, Tabuk, and the Eastern Province. Meanwhile, above-average rainfall is forecast for Jazan, Najran, Asir, Medina, Makkah, and Riyadh.
These patterns reflect typical summer trends. Residents are urged to follow official weather updates and safety instructions.
Saudi Arabia’s highest recorded temperature was 52°C in Jeddah (June 2010), followed by 51.3°C in Al-Hasa (July 2024).
