In a ruling, Saudi Human Resources and Social Development Minister Ahmed Al-Rajhi divided foreign workers' work licenses into three primary skill categories: basic, skilled, and high-level.
On June 18, expats who are currently employed in the Saudi labor market started to have their work permits and technical system updates classified. Beginning on July 1, new foreign employees would be classified. The ministry's official website offers a guidance booklet that covers every element of the decision.
The measures are intended to improve worker performance, draw in international talent to bring knowledge and experience to the Saudi labor market, increase operational efficiency, gain access to international experience, and create an atmosphere that encourages innovation and the creation of business models.
By guaranteeing that employees have the skills and credentials needed for their positions, in accordance with best international practices, the decision will enhance verification procedures and allow for better management of the skill-level distribution of foreign workers in the labor market.
